BLS is seeking a professional with experienced technical skills in corporate accounting matters with an emphasis on Delaware Investment Holding Companies, including subsidiary set-up management, physical presence establishment and comprehensive accounting and tax planning services.

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Monitor receipts, pay incurred expenses and invoices, prepare wire transfers and maintain account balances for corporate bank accounts
  • Monitor and prepare invoices for royalties and receipt of interest, dividends and royalty payments
  • Maintain communications with clients, financial institutions and law firms
  • Reconcile accounts, calculate income/loss, summarize records and post entries to general ledger
  • Prepare trial balances with supporting financial statements, balance sheets and statements of operations
  • Prepare and file tax returns, including employment, Delaware franchise tax, Delaware 1902(b) and other federal and state returns, as needed
  • Prepare materials for board of director meetings and maintain correspondence, statements and other information in client files
What We Look For

BLS is seeking a professional to join our growing Estates & Trusts Practice Group. Interested individuals must have experience and in-depth knowledge of estate and trust taxation including gift, estate, inheritance, and other fiduciary tax issues for individuals and entities.

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Preparing tax returns that include complex gift, estate, and fiduciary income for individuals and entities, including Forms 1041, 1041A, 5227, 990PF, 706, and 709
  • Providing guidance and advice on estate planning, anticipated or recent inheritance, lifetime charitable giving, and asset protection
  • Maintaining current knowledge of creating a trust and interpreting trust documents
  • Forecasting tax liability based on past and future transactions

Sample Project Opportunities
  • Preparing intermediate Federal and State income tax returns including Forms 1120, 5472, 1040/1040NR, 2555, 1116, 8938, FBAR (FinCEN Form 114), etc.
  • Supporting a team-based approach in preparation of more complex returns, including Forms 5471, 8865 and 8858
  • Maintaining current knowledge of U.S. tax laws; monitoring the effect of proposed and enacted changes to these laws on foreign earned income

Begin your career with our Summer Internship Program. Not only will you gain experience, work with clients, and network with the BLS family, but you will also be considered for a Staff Accountant Position. Many of the members of the BLS family started their career journey with a BLS Summer Internship and have advanced throughout the firm! You could be next!

What to Expect
  • Duration – 8-week/40-hour schedule combining formal learning with real world experiences
  • Acquire familiarity with firm processes while learning advanced accounting software programs.
  • Develop and apply learned skills through a variety of activities in all departments of the firm, not just one department. It’s the rotational development concept that makes us different from the others.
  • Engage and learn to perform work assignments as a first-year staff member and an active part of the BLS team.
  • Contribute to real client work, not an internship of scanning.
  • Network with accomplished professionals in the public accounting field.
What We Look For
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting or an accounting certificate
  • Two years or less from the 150 Credit Hour requirement

Are you looking to gain first-hand knowledge of what a career could look like in a mid-sized, regional public accounting firm but are too early in your college career for an internship? Our half-day virtual Externship/Shadowing Experience, which occurs in late July/early August, is for you! During this program, you will have the chance to interact with our current Summer Interns, Staff Accountants, all the way up through Shareholders, to better understand how public accounting firms help their clients succeed. Best of all, our Externs get to add this experience on their resume AND are automatically invited to interview for the Summer Internship Program, when eligible.

Our Summer Externship Program usually takes place in late July/early August from 9am-1pm ET. Final date to be determined soon.
